Abstract:
The use of artificial intelligence not only changes products and processes, but also poses new challenges for corporate governance. Management and supervisory board members are increasingly obliged to actively deal with the opportunities and risks of AI - both within the company itself and in the cooperation between the executive bodies and with stakeholders. This presentation will shed light on which decision-makers need to take action, where opportunities lie and how AI can be handled responsibly.
About the person:
Daniela Weber-Rey, LL.M., is a lawyer and member of the supervisory board and advisory board of various companies and institutions. Her work is currently focused between Germany and France. She specializes in financial institutions, sustainability and artificial intelligence.
Daniela Weber-Rey studied law in Germany, Switzerland and the USA. She is both a lawyer and an attorney-at-law (NYC, New York). Ms. Weber-Rey was a lawyer and partner at the international law firm Clifford Chance (or its predecessor firms Pünder, Volhard, Weber & Axster in Germany, later Clifford Chance Pünder) for almost 30 years with various management roles at German and European level with a focus on corporate, M&A and financial sector, most recently three years as a member of the global management committee ‘Partnership Council’.
Daniela Weber-Rey then moved to Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt am Main, for three years as its Chief Governance Officer, responsible for governance issues and internal structures, and in some cases also as Deputy Global Head of Compliance.
In recent years, Ms. Weber-Rey has served on supervisory boards at Fnac Darty Groupe (Paris), HSBC Deutschland (Düsseldorf), Deutsch-Französische Hochschule (Speyer), SAFE Leibniz Institut für Finanzmarktforschung (Frankfurt/M) and Deutsche Literaturarchiv Marbach. Previously, she was a member of the Board of Directors of BNP Paribas and for many years a member of the Government Commission on the German Corporate Governance Code (Frankfurt/M, Berlin) as well as a Board Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute, Brussels.
Daniela Weber-Rey is a Knight of the French Legion of Honor (Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, 2010) and was appointed an officer by the Arts and Letters Commission of the French Republic (Officier des Arts et des Lettres, 2021).
