Within the project „Meinungsmonitor Künstliche Intelligenz“ [MeMo:KI]" (engl.: "Opinion Monitor Artificial Intelligence"), which is carried out in research partnership with the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), an instrument is being developed to continuously observe and analyze public and published opinion on AI. For this purpose, the understanding and opinion of AI will be recorded by means of a regular population survey, media coverage will be examined by a combination of automated and manual content analysis methods, and the discussions of experts and opinion leaders in social media will be examined in greater depth. The aim is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of public discourse and to derive statements about the causes of opportunity and risk assessments and the expressed (political) need for action.
Four waves of surveys have already been carried out until now. The collected data were processed in a dashboard.
