As part of the project "Meinungsmonitor Künstliche Intelligenz" [MeMo:KI], which is conducted in a research partnership with the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), a research tool has been developed to continuously monitor and analyze public and published opinion on AI. To this end, a regular population survey is used to gauge understanding and opinion on AI, media coverage is examined through a combination of automated and manual content analysis techniques, and discussions by experts and opinion leaders on social media are explored in greater depth. The goal is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics in public discourse and to derive statements about the causes of opportunity and risk assessments as well as the expressed (political) need for action. The project Meinungsmonitor Künstliche Intelligenz is funded by Stiftung Mercator.
Current results of the population-representative survey and all special studies can be found on the website of the research.
