HeiCADRetreat

On June 12, 2026, HeiCAD will dedicate an entire day to an exchange on AI and data science at the Haus der Universität in Düsseldorf. The main goal of the event is to bring together the research groups of HeiCAD members and others as well as provide an opportunity to discuss ideas on AI and data science across faculties. Catering is provided and there will be plenty of opportunity to network over lunch, interactive poster sessions and a social get-together in the evening.

Who is invited?

The HeiCADRetreat aims to cover the full range of interdisciplinary HeiCAD topics: AI and data science and their applications in a wide range of disciplines. We welcome researchers and students from all disciplines and career stages! The event is open to all interested students and researchers working on AI and data science at HHU or associated institutions.

What is happening?

The retreat includes a “45 Second Madness”, a poster session and custom colloquia to bring together researchers at all career stages to discuss and provide feedback on issues raised by PhD students. There will be also two exciting keynotes on current topics on AI to provide a glimpse into the future and highlight important challenges.

In order to bring this programme to life, we would like to ask for the following:

“45 Second Madness”

  • We would be delighted if every participant contributed in the “45 Second Madness” and presented their research interests in one brief slide.

Poster Session:

  • In addition, we will ask all participating PhD students to prepare a poster about their doctoral thesis.
  • Of course, all other participants have the opportunity to present a poster, too (please tick the appropriate box on the registration form).

Custom Colloquia:

  • We offer our participants the opportunity to participate in a costum colloquium in order to discuss a topic that particularly interests or concerns them, whether within their dissertation or in another project. This gives them the opportunity to obtain feedback and, if necessary, valuable suggestions from the HeiCAD community.
  • In order to reduce the complexity of the registration process, we will send a separate registration form to interested presenters.
