Science Communication

Artificial intelligence is changing the way we learn, work, and conduct research, and raises questions that affect us all. That is why HeiCAD views science communication as a dialogue: We make research on AI and data science accessible, highlight opportunities and limitations, and invite people to join the conversation. At events like Girls’ Day or the Night of Science, young people and the interested public can experience AI firsthand. In the HeiCAD Lectures, experts discuss current developments at the intersection of science and society. Our multimedia formats, such as podcasts and explanatory videos, round out our offerings: knowledge you can listen to and watch, available anytime.

Podcast “Fast Facts: AI Moments”

With our podcast “Fast Facts: AI Moments,” we aim to briefly highlight 12 milestones in AI research and spark interest in the history of modern AI. The podcast is intended for listeners—whether or not they have a technical background—who are curious about the history of modern AI. The milestones are arranged chronologically, and each episode offers a brief, engaging story about an event in AI research—from the Turing Test to current developments in the field of generative AI.

Video Series "Heine und Lovelace fragen nach..."

In our series “Heine und Lovelace fragen nach...,” Heinrich Heine and Ada Lovelace explain key concepts from the world of artificial intelligence and data science. They are supported in this by researchers from the Manchot Research Group and HeiCAD. The concepts covered fall within the research group’s four use cases: health, economics, politics, and law. The programmer Ada Lovelace likely never crossed paths with her contemporary, the poet Heinrich Heine, in London in the 1840s—even though Heine did spend some time in London and, in theory, could have been an interesting conversation partner…

“InsideHeiCAD” Podcast

With our “InsideHeiCAD” podcast, we aim to spark interest in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science and to communicate scientific topics in a way that is accessible to the general public. In Season 1, nine episodes featured interviews with HHU researchers from various fields within AI and data science. Season 2 focuses on students, doctoral candidates, and teaching. Under the heading “PhD Pitches,” it highlights, in a shorter format, doctoral research projects in the fields of AI and data science at HHU.
