HeiCADRetreat 2024

On 28 June 2024, HeiCAD will dedicate an entire day to an exchange on AI and data science at HHU. The main goal of the event is to bring together the research groups of HeiCAD members and provide an opportunity to discuss ideas on AI and data science across faculties. In addition, the event is open to all interested students and researchers working on AI and data science at HHU or associated institutions. Catering will be provided and there will be plenty of opportunity to network over lunch, interactive poster sessions and a social get-together in the evening.

Who is invited?

The HeiCADRetreat aims to cover the full range of interdisciplinary HeiCAD topics: AI and data science and their applications in a wide range of disciplines. We welcome researchers and students from all disciplines and career stages!

What will happen?

The retreat will include a minute madness session, a poster session and custom colloquia to bring together researchers at all career stages to discuss and provide feedback on issues raised by PhD students. There will also be two exciting keynotes by Prof. Dr Milica Gašić (Computer Science) and Prof. Dr Johann Justus Vasel (Law) on the topics of generative AI and AI and legal challenges to provide a glimpse into the future and highlight important challenges.

In order to bring this programme to life, we would like to ask all participants to prepare the following:

  • PhD students and PostDocs: you are invited to present a minute madness slide and a poster about yourself and your research.
  • PhD students: please also refer to the information in the right sidebar regarding custom colloquia.

  • Professors: we'd like to offer to include you in the minute madness session to briefly introduce you to all participants.
  • Students: you are welcome to join the audience for all events!
